Student Green Team

As an active participant in the King County Green Schools Program, Einstein’s Green Team, known as the Green Otters, works to support students, teachers, staff, and parents in creating a healthy school and community environment. Our mission is to inspire meaningful change within our school and beyond by nurturing thoughtful learners, reducing our environmental footprint, and cultivating collaboration, student voice, and strong leadership to make a positive impact.

This program is available for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade who are interested in being a Green Community Leader.

Participants will:

• Attend monthly Green Team meetings. 
• Learn about and model “green behavior” at school and in the community.
• Help plan, organize and participate in Earth Week activities (April).
• Learn about food waste reduction, and from time to time, help during lunch
  time to sort food waste.
• Learn ways to save energy and conserve water.
• Help take care of the school garden.

Application process: Anyone in grades 3-5 must submit an application form (registration for 2025-2026 is now closed).

Applicants' families are contacted by email by the end of September or beginning of October.

Einstein Otters Celebrate Earth Week 2026 with Heart and Purpose

Einstein’s Green Otters enjoyed a week filled with Earth‑centered activities as they proudly celebrated Earth Week from April 20–24. Throughout the week, students participated in meaningful experiences that promoted environmental awareness and stewardship. From zero‑waste lunches to Earth Day videos and Earth‑themed books, the celebration concluded with a heart‑warming and Earth‑friendly movie favorite, Wall‑E.

Otters showed their love for our planet by wearing green and taking part in a fun, eye‑opening campus clean‑up, collecting litter from school grounds while learning about the importance of caring for our shared spaces. With a strong focus on reducing, reusing, and recycling, students also collaborated on a creative art display using milk cartons and other reused materials from the lunchroom.

It was a truly special week for our school community, and we are grateful to our students and parent volunteers whose participation helped make this celebration meaningful and memorable. Together, they reminded us that even small actions can make a big impact.
