Hello Einstein Families! I am Mrs. Ashley, the librarian at Einstein Elementary School. The mission of the LWSD Library Media Program is to provide opportunities for learners to become empowered critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skilled researchers, and effective, ethical users and creators of ideas and information. I look forward to sharing great books with your children this year.

Library Policies

Loan Periods - Students can check out books for 2 weeks as long as their records are free of fines and overdue books. If a student needs more time to finish reading a book, he/she/they may ask to renew the book.
Number of Books Allowed to Borrow:
- K – 1 book (beginning in October)
- 1st Grade – 2 books
- 2nd Grade – 3 books
- 3rd Grade – 4 books
- 4th Grade – 5 books
- 5th Grade – 6 books
Book Fines - Students are not fined for late books, but they are responsible for lost or damaged library books. Students will be fined the replacement cost if a book is lost or damaged.

Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is an optional reading challenge open to 4th and 5th graders. Students are responsible for forming teams of 2-4 members, reading the books, and participating in the "Book Battles."

Team registration will take place in the fall.
There are 12 books each team needs to read. Teams decide which members read which books. No one student is required to read all 12 books.
The Einstein library has several copies of each book available for team members to check out.
Teams "battle" by answering questions about the 12 books. All questions require the title of a book as the answer. Teams are not allowed to have a list of the titles during the "book battles". After two rounds, teams will start to be eliminated based on scores until we have one winning team. The winning team from Einstein will compete with a winning team from another LWSD elementary school (via Teams) in the spring.
Students will be recognized at the end of the school year with a participation certificate.

Celebration Books

Dear Einstein Families,
The Celebration Book Club is an optional program that
allows you to make a monetary donation to celebrate a
special occasion in your child's life while helping to
maintain and update our school’s library collection. We
invite you to participate.
The suggested donation is $20, and donations will be used
to purchase new books. Your student will select one book from the new collection to donate to
the library. If you are unable to donate funds, please select the Success Fund option on the form
below and your child will still be able to select a book to donate for their special occasion.
The selection of a Celebration Book will take place between October and May. Your child will
be called to the library in the month you have chosen to choose a Celebration Book and
receive a bookmark. A personalized label will be placed in the book to commemorate your
child’s donation. Your child will be the first to check out the new book, and upon return, the
book will become part of our library collection for all to enjoy! Unless otherwise requested, the
August/September celebration students will select books in October, and the June/July
celebration students will select books in May (the book label will reflect the actual celebration
month).
To participate:
1. Complete the form for each child participating.
2. Provide cash (exact amount) or a check made out to Einstein PTSA, noting “Celebration
Book Club” in the memo. If you have multiple children, one total payment is accepted.
3. Place the form and payment in an envelope addressed to Einstein Celebration Book Club.
